OP Loves

This page describes the OP Loves initiative for February 2021. This event has passed.

We prioritize irrational generosity and compassion.

We truly believe it is more blessed to give than to receive.

At OceanPointe, we have nine culture statements. The statement that probably makes the least sense is this one- choosing to be irrationally generous when it seems illogical. Our two-fold OP Loves plan does just that!

OceanPointe has been hit pretty hard financially because of COVID-19 plus a building project. Regardless, we want to love our community this Valentine's Day by taking up an offering of which we will donate
100% to local ministries making a difference on Aquidneck Island.

Secondly, we encourage OceanPointers to partake in Takeout Tuesday! On  Tuesday, February 16th, we want to support the restaurant industry by getting takeout at some point during the day. It can be breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, etc. If we can give local restaurants and businesses a little extra business and encouragement, this is such a small way that OP can love on our community. See below for suggestions and more details!

Step 1: Giving to Local Organizations

The Ask

We ask that every person gives $40 by Sunday, Feb. 14th. The goal is 100% participation not a dollar amount, so if you are unable to give $40 for every person in your family, give what you can.

Where It Goes

Every penny that comes in for OP Loves will go to one of two organizations. The first is St. John's Food Bank in Portsmouth. They provide groceries for families in Portsmouth and surrounding areas every Wednesday and Friday. Anyone in need can drive through between 10am and 4pm to receive free food for their family. If you are interested in volunteering or donating additional money or food, you can drive up during their open hours and offer assistance. The Portsmouth Food Bank is housed at 81 Sprague St. in Portsmouth.

The Second is the Boys and Girls Club of Newport County’s Distance Learning Program. This program provides students a safe and supportive place for their distance learning classes as well as providing
supplies, snacks and a light dinner each day.
We hope to give them a donation in support of their
efforts to provide this unique program for local
families in such a time of need.

Step 2: Takeout Tuesday

February 16th, 2021

There is not one business that we are focusing on for Takeout Tuesday. We simply want to sprinkle random acts of kindness around our island. An easy way to to this is ordering takeout or getting a coffee throughout your day, being kind to the staff that is serving you, and if possible, leaving a generous tip.

If you can leave a comment or write it on the receipt, include #OPTakeoutTuesday. Email any photos you take with your family or food to oploves@oceanpointeri.com! We will post them and all the businesses we supported during this event on our Facebook and Instagram!

Giving to OP Loves

We ask that every person gives $40 by Sunday, Feb. 14th. The goal is 100% participation not a dollar amount, so if you are unable to give $40 for every person in your family, give what you can. The idea, however, is that every OceanPointer would donate $40.

To give, submit the form through our giving portal. Make sure to SELECT "OP LOVES" in the dropdown menu.

Thanks for helping us support local organizations and local families! So many will be impacted because of your gift!
