NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR

Did you know that across the U.S. an estimated 1.5 - 2 million children do not have their own bed to sleep in? This hidden crisis impacts thousands of local children in our state. However, one organization decided to stand in the gap, Sleep In Heavenly Peace. 
SHP, is a volunteer-run, community-driven organization that builds and delivers beds…and hope…to children in our local community and beyond. Their mission? To ensure that no kid sleeps on the floor in our town!

HOW CAN YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?

This Fall, OceanPointe is partnering with Sleep In Heavenly Peace to make a lasting impact in the lives of families in Rhode Island.

Each bed costs $250 in raw materials. Our goal is to sponsor 20 bunk beds, which rounds out to $5,000. OceanPointe is contributing $2,500 to the Bed Fund. Click the button below to be directed to OP Give page.

DONATE TO BEDDING DRIVE

Each bed delivered to a child is outfitted with a full bedding set! SHP accepts new, unused standard twin-size bedding, sheets, pillows, or twin bed-in-a-bags. All donations can be brought to OceanPointe Christian Church.

Our local Walmart, as well as Amazon, have twin bedding sets for under $40.

SERVE AT BUILD DAY

Join us on Saturday, October 31st for an all-ages Impact Day. Come together for a morning of community and service. Discover more about our local Impact Partner and experience the hope that something as simple as a bed can bring! This event includes the preparation and construction of wooden bed frames and will take place on-site in Pawtucket, RI.

Participating in a SHP Build Day is an exciting experience. Volunteers – under the guidance of SHP Chapter team members – build bunks in an assembly line setup. There are stations for sawing, sanding, drilling, assembling, staining, and branding the wood. What started as a pile of raw lumber from the hardware store becomes ready-to-deliver bunks for kids in need.

No prior experience needed. A pizza lunch will be served at 12:30p.
